Sanford Tri-Ply cookware, also called triply or 3-ply, is built from three bonded layers: stainless steel, a pure aluminium core, and stainless steel again. It heats quickly and evenly, and works on induction, gas and electric cooktops. Choose from kadai, frying pans, saucepans, saucepots and multipans, all backed by a 10-year limited warranty.
What is Tri-Ply cookware?
Tri-Ply (often written "triply" or "3-ply") means the cookware body is made of three layers bonded together. The inner layer is SS304 food-grade stainless steel, a non-reactive cooking surface that won't affect the taste of your food. The middle layer is a pure aluminium core that spreads heat quickly and evenly, from the base up the sides. The outer layer is SS430 stainless steel, which is magnetic and is what makes the cookware work on induction. You get the durability of stainless steel with much better heat distribution than single-layer steel.
Tri-Ply vs ordinary stainless steel
Single-layer stainless steel heats slowly and unevenly, which causes hot spots where food burns or sticks. The aluminium core in Tri-Ply cookware reduces this, so curries simmer evenly and frying is more consistent.
Tri-Ply vs non-stick
Non-stick cookware relies on a coating, which can wear over time. Tri-Ply has no coating, so it suits high-heat cooking like tadka, searing and deep frying. Stainless steel does need a little technique to prevent sticking: preheat the pan, then add oil before the food.
Works on every cooktop
The whole range is induction compatible and also works on gas, electric, halogen and hot plate cooktops.
